Category: LGBT scientists from South Africa

[edit]

Is it really appropriate to have this category? I think not for the following reasons:

  • The page is about a cosmologist, not a civil-rights activist / social scientist so her sexual orientation is irrelevant. Her work is highlighted, not her life-style choices.
  • There is no mention made of her sexual orientation on the page. Very little of a personal nature is mentioned, but this is specifically not mentioned.
  • Her page is the only member of the category which gives the impression that there are (almost) no LGBT scientist in South Africa. Having a category with a single member seems unnecessary and misleading.

I'm going to remove it and wait for a reaction and discussion. Wyatt Tyrone Smith (talk) 16:54, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
