Halfdan and Deira
[edit]"Halfdan Ragnarsson appears to have retaken southern Northumbria for the Danes, corresponding with the old Kingdom of Deira, or the Viking kingdom of Jórvík, between the Humber and the Tees."
I am no expert on Northumbria in this era, but the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle for 874 states that "Halfdan Ragnarsson... conquered the land... and took winter quarters on the River Tyne... and often raided among the Picts and Strathclyde Welsh."
The Tyne is not in Deira but Bernicia. These were distinct territories and the evidence is that Halfdan was significantly north of Deira; and the Tyne are would fit with him raiding the Picts and Strathclyde Welsh.
I think this article is misleading and needs rewriting by someone who knows the era.
