Notable people (references)

[edit]

Not sure how to add references when the section does not exist, but this is a link to an article about Merrill Morang, written about six months before his death. http://knox.villagesoup.com/p/292406 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.78.35.72 (talk) 19:07, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Questionable content

[edit]

This recently added content should gain consensus for inclusion: "Sea View Cemetery in Rockport is home to the grave of a young, unidentified baby boy whom passed away and was found in the Rockport Quarry on Route 1 in 1940. His headstone reads "Unknown Unwanted Baby Boy". The grave is located in the Pauper's Section in the back of the cemetery and has been decorated with toys and gifts over the years." Find-a-grave is not a RS and does not back claim. Promotes OR. Also, source draws conclusions that are not back by any other source. Maineartists (talk) 19:12, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Andre the Seal is apparently notable and has an article. The person who found the seal does not have an article and should not be listed as a notable resident. Notability is not inherited. If Harry Goodridge is notable himself then WP:WTAF. Meters (talk) 23:46, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Andre the Seal is only notable because of Harry Goodridge, the author of the book and "owner". There are numerous notable persons at WP who share articles due to merge. This is extremely common when AfDs are voted as such. To say the man who is mentioned in the Rockport article, the film and in the article on Andre is not notable simply because he does not have his own article is ridiculous. In addition, Andrew is not a "people". If one were to create an article on Goodridge (who is notable as an author and subject), most likely it would be a stub article with content already found on 3 other pages at WP or voted to be merged with the Andre article. I did not link Goodridge to a disambiguation page or a red-linking as you linked WP:WTAF. I linked it to a notable article that showed notability for both Andre and Harry Goodridge. If anything, there should be a re-direct for Goodridge that links to the Andre article. Which is also common at WP. There isn't much more to be said than can be found on the Rockport, Maine page, the Andre the Seal (film) page, and the Andre the Seal page. To write an entirely new article on Goodridge just to restate all the same information found on these 3 pages to satisfy your request is unnecessary and overkill. • No need to respond. I've gathered enough notable online, media and printed sources to created a WP article on Goodridge. Problem solved. I will be publishing and then reinstating him as a notable person on this page. Maineartists (talk) 03:18, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
