Statens Järnvägar is literally "The State's Iron Way" not "States Railway" was previously stated.

State = "State"

-en (ending) = "The"

Järn- = "Iron"

-vägar = "Way"

Statens = The State's
Järnvägar = Railways
It's better to translate compounds as one word instead of several words. (Stefan2 01:57, 5 November 2006 (UTC))[reply]
If you look up järnväg in the dictionary the translation will be railroad. Du kan inte dela upp sammansatta ord när du översätter dem. --Dahlis 16:25, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

> SJ AB [Swedish Railways, Statens Järnvägar, commonly known as SJ]

"SJ" as in "SJ AB" is not an abbreviation for Statens Järnvägar. In fact, it's not an abbreviation at all. "SJ" only means "Statens Järnvägar" in some other contexts. (Stefan2 01:54, 5 November 2006 (UTC))[reply]

The headquarters

[edit]

Tournesol undid my edits when I wrote that the headquarters are in Stockholm. The headquarters are in Stockholm. Look on the Swedish article. BjörnBergman 12:49, 28 March 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by BjörnBergman (talkcontribs)
