Conversions from class 68500
[edit]The conversions from SNCF Class 68500 were, I believe, nos. 68005 and 68082-85, total 5. It so happens that British Rail had five locomotives which used the same Sulzer 12LVA 24 as SNCF Class A1AA1A 68000, and these were Class 48 nos. D1702-D1706. After a few years they were converted to Class 47 by replacing the engines with a Sulzer 12LDA 28C unit, and it is known that BR sold the surplus 12LVA 24 engines to SNCF. Are these the same engines that SNCF used to convert class 68500 to class 68000? --Redrose64 (talk) 22:35, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
