Captain James Teare was the Captain of the ill fated ship SS Ellan Vannin which sank on December 3rd 1909.
The ship was en route from the Isle of Man to Liverpool carrying 21 crew and 14 passengers when it was overwhelmed by 20 foot waves in a Force 11 storm as it approached the Mersey Approach Channel.
The ship sank with loss of all on board.
