Proposed merger

[edit]

Just received a friendly e-mail that St. Thomas Academy and Saint Thomas Academy are both about the same institution. Would anybody like to help merge? - jredmond 22:07, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No time to assist right now, but I think it's clear you don't need to wait for consensus at least. Be bold! /blahedo (t) 05:39, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have merged the two articles into Saint Thomas Academy, removed the merged notice, and made St. Thomas Academy a redirect page. If I missed anything fill in the article as needed.

Creation of a Visitation page?

[edit]

Though I neither attend STA or Vis, I thought I'd suggest a creation of a page dedicated to Vis. I was actually surprised to see STA have a page on Wiki, but a little dismayed to see that the sister school, Vis, didn't. I don't know much about the school other than it is a all-girls college prepetory school. Post a message on my talk page if you're up to the task. Thanks! Pvt Mahoney 01:27, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds like a good idea, i'd want an alumnus from there to take that task on. Oldman 02:19, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am dating a girl who goes to Vis. I could ask her for information. What kind of information would be needed? Pvt Mahoney 02:24, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I created a basic start-up page for Vis, I'm hoping to get more information about Vis up soon. Pvt Mahoney 03:02, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

looks good so far. you are dating a current vis student? or someone who went to VIS? Oldman 22:06, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well I WAS dating someone from Vis up until recently ^_^;; heh. But I still know a good four or five people who currently attend the school. Pvt Mahoney 23:19, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

it's been many years since i've known people at that school. i'm getting old! Oldman 20:31, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sports expansion

[edit]

I was thinking of finding out all the years they won state championships in the sports they offer. Do you think that's a good idea Oldman? Possibly a description of the sport too? Or is that a tad overkill?

Also I was thinking maybe adding a current news section, sort of like what Project Peru has. It may be a neat addition. Just latest events kind of thing. Not "alerts" or "notices".

We could also create a up-coming events calendar for sports, but that may be a tad bit useless on an encyclopedia page.

Just thoughts! Pvt Mahoney 23:23, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

all the state champs? there's so many! :) that could make the article arduously long. perhaps listing the last 10 years. Oldman 20:32, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Or how about creating a sub-page for the sports, and listing all of their winnings there? Pvt Mahoney 16:46, 24 March 2006 (UTC) Why not just add a link to the page on the cadets.com website- — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.41.254.39 (talk) 03:50, 14 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

More Alumni

[edit]

What's the name of the CEO of supervalu (aka cub foods)? I think I remember he's an alumnus as well. Oldman 20:37, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are a bunch of them on their website. http://www.supervalu.com/sv-webapp/about/board.jsp <- Four of them are listed as Co-Chairman and CEO Pvt Mahoney 03:03, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Update: I was wrong, I was looking at the board of directors. Jeff Noodle is the CEO of SuperValu. Pvt Mahoney 16:45, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are thinking of Mike Wright, who was Chairman and CEO of Supervalu up until about five years ago. He also was an All-American lineman at the University of Minnesota back in his heyday.

Masturbation

[edit]

If you're a current/former student or STA alum or fan, let's keep the comments objective and NPOV and shy away from masturbatory glorification of the school (i.e. "STA debate team brings the ruckus", "STA kids excrete gold nuggets") ka1iban 18:46, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picture

[edit]

would it be possible to put a picture of the crest as the main picture? the picture from the plane is a cool shot but i think the main picture should be the crest

I would change it but I have no idea how —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.33.56.135 (talk) 20:46, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Retains the courses...

[edit]

When I attended military academy (H.S.) The US Army taught JROTC courses in leadership. That could have changed, but I wonder if it is true that a school can leave JROTC and maintain that course sequence or if it is more accurate/truthful to say their substitute is "similar".
