This article overlooks the best known fact about Salem, NH. The biggest attraction in Salem, NH, and the mainstay of its local economy is the retail stores, and retail is such a big business, because Salem borders on Massachusetts, which unlike NH has a sales tax (6.25%, though prior to Gov. Deval Patrick, it was only 5%). Add Route 93, a major interstate highway which goes through Salem, and you can see why it has so much retail. Bostoner (talk) 23:40, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
