Origin of "Winchester"

Hello, totally unrelated to the above, but it would be nice if there were some explanation for the "Winchester" part of the name, not just for "Sandtown." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.54.35.160 (talk) 00:47, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

One theory: William Winchester was a prominent colonial citizen in Maryland. He was originally an indentured servant but married well and became an extensive landholder (see Westminster, Maryland). Three of his sons served in the Continental Army. People who are more familiar with local history should chime in but I would not be surprised if he had landholdings in what is not West Baltimore and the consequent naming.BrandenburgG (talk) 12:11, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
