Request to add caste information of Pandurang Sadashiv Sane
[edit]I have some information which refers to the caste of Pandurang Sadashiv Sane. He was born into a Brahmin family. Source. How will this help? A: There has been a recent increase in animosity towards Brahmins for not advocating against caste-based oppression (source). Therefore, this should be added to acknowledge his efforts. Moreover, the category of Category:Brahmins who fought against discrimination should also be added. KoiRitwikHai (talk) 09:27, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Kuru: Can I have a response on this? --KoiRitwikHai (talk) 20:14, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- The first source is a Wikipedia mirror - material copied from us. No, that can't be used. The second is a YouTube video. I would look harder to find quality, reliable sources that support your addition. Sam Kuru (talk) 20:35, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Kuru: He indeed belonged to a Brahmin family. That is taken from his autobiography back cover. I hope that is the most reliable source one can find. --KoiRitwikHai (talk) 20:58, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- While material in an actual autobiography is acceptable, the back jacket is material added to a self-published copy of the autobiography well after the subject passed away. Does the autobiography itself contain this claim? Sam Kuru (talk) 12:14, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Kuru: I haven't read the book. It is quite costly. But a user named The Bibliophile Doctor posted a review on goodreads [1] in English. It mentions that he grew up in a Brahmin household. Moreover, same has been asserted in this article. It is written by a person who read the book. KoiRitwikHai (talk) 12:57, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Kuru: may I get a response on this? --KoiRitwikHai (talk) 12:05, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- Just use the jstor article. Sam Kuru (talk) 12:09, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
