School articles merger

[edit]

A proposal to add information about non-notable schools to the nighborhood articles or to the school division articles is begun at... Talk:List_of_neighbourhoods_in_Saskatoon#Schools. Please comment.SriMesh | talk 02:22, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Started to add wikilinks to school information within the neighborhood articles. Neighborhood articles can hold the WP Canada education guidelines, photograph of schools, template school infobox information, as well as nearest secondary school.SriMesh | talk 03:05, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Changed the wiki links to re-directs to the neighborhood articles, where, the articles should receive some fuller info about them...Add More about the schools as they are not notable to be stand alone articles. WP Ed CA would like Pictures, infobox, History, Academics, Athletics, Departments, Staff per each school...which can be added to the appropriate locality or neighborhood section as per Education notability guidelines and previous discussion on another talk page.SriMesh | talk 02:46, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
disambiguation page needs to be added to the feeder schools Dfsjlk1 (talk) 07:47, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop with the cryptic posts, and please don't ask the same thing more than once. We don't mention feeder schools. And what needs disambiguation? Meters (talk) 06:47, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
oh okay the pipe Neighborhood issues as mentioned before Dfsjlk1 (talk) 08:48, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
there is no hidden meaning in the posts Dfsjlk1 (talk) 08:53, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't mean to say that you were intentionally hiding meaning, just that your concerns are not understandable. What pipe issues? The elementary schools have pipes to the neighbourhood articles. The pipes work, presumably as User:SriMesh intended. Meters (talk) 00:04, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see, that's where the issues come from. - I mentioned more in the 'navbox education in Canada template' talk Dfsjlk1 (talk) 03:01, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And you still have not explained the explained the supposed problem there either. Meters (talk) 03:40, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that you don't understand what I am doing or saying, and I hope we can move forward with this dispute. Dfsjlk1 (talk) 04:42, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Defunct vs Decommissioned

[edit]

Should a section be started named defunct or decomissioned schools for those schools which once existed within Saskatoon, and have been sold, re used for other purposes or torn down? SriMesh | talk 03:05, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that would be prudent. I believe that decommissioned would be more appropriate than defunct. Maybe even think of a better word? It would be good for any user who is looking for an older school they or a family member attended, they don't see it and then make a new article.. --Kukamunga13 (talk) 09:18, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Naming M of S

[edit]

For the French immersion schools should the name begin École Something School. Victoria School for example is named thusly on its main page, however had its inception in the city as Victoria School and was not French immersion at that time. Do the names receive the French accent or not in English wikipedia? École Victoria School - Victoria School (Saskatoon) (French Immersion)SriMesh | talk 02:52, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Naming conventions

[edit]

Discussion initiated for Saskatchewan continuity in names/categories. Please comment on Saskatchewan school division, school district article naming and categorisation. Then could the result be put on the main page of Canadian Wikipedians' notice board/Style guide? SriMesh | talk 19:08, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

School divisions

[edit]

This article uses {{Infobox School District}}. There is also available the {{Canadian School District}} which should be generic enough for Saskatchewan as well. There is also available {{Navbox Education in Canada}} to provide a footer navigation box on articles. Kind Regards SriMesh | talk 20:19, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The feeder school and community names need disambiguation page

[edit]

help fix the pages with two templates Dfsjlk1 (talk) 07:45, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What templates? What needs need disambiguation and why? Meters (talk) 06:44, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
disambiguation page is fixed I don't need that anymore it's the pipe issue mentioned before Dfsjlk1 (talk) 08:47, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
See my previous answer. If you can't explain what you see as an issue, don't expect anyone to deal with it. Meters (talk) 00:06, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay just that the bots are not nice. flags Dfsjlk1 (talk) 03:04, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What bots? What flags? Again If you can't explain what you see as an issue, don't expect anyone to deal with it. Meters (talk) 03:38, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

navbox education in Canada template Dfsjlk1 (talk) 04:47, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What about it? Do you want to know what it is? Do you have a question how to use it? Do you want someone to add it? Do you want someone to remove it? Meters (talk) 06:42, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would like for the schools in the city to have navbox and yes, I would like to know how to use it - yes adding it to the pages for the school would be great - the schools don't have good wiki pages, so I thought telling people to add them with a navbox with be a good thing. Dfsjlk1 (talk) 08:45, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if there is a navbox for Saskatoon schools, but this is an article about the public school board in Saskatoon, and it already lists all of those schools. All the lower level schools are piped to the neighbourhoods, so no-one can tell if they have articles or not. What's the point if adding a navbox just so we can have a bunch of red-linked titles that are likely never going to have articles? I've already told you that elementary schools are very rarely notable. Using a navbox instead is not going to change anything. Meters (talk) 23:59, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I know it lists the schools of the school board but not the city, so we can't ever have the piped issue fixed? You can't find another school that is not public. The hyperlink game. I think other people tried to fix it and failed and it doesn't look right when looking up a school and seeing the neighbourhood, if we try to fix it without a pro-Wikipedia writer the bots come for us so the issue is hard to get fixed, it would be nice if someone could fix all of the pages and get the community help - the public, catholic and private schools have lots of info on their site and so does the rest of the web. It would be helpful if an experienced editor could make the effort to move the page. - The Red boxes don't need hyperlinks in the beginning and can be added with time. Yes, a simple page for the schools is not even there you don't need to be 'notable' to have that. A navbox sends an editor to the page to edit it and within time it might just get better - It is really confusing if you do any research on Wikipedia and -- important young students use Wikipedia if their teachers can't explain to them with a good example the pages wikis work and plagiarism and Academic integrity  - Wikipedia is less of an issue because of AI but it's still important to keep young kids in touch. I put this massage there so I wouldn't have to put it in all schools talk page. People see it here and edit their school of liking - which is not how Wikipedia works. Dfsjlk1 (talk) 02:59, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is no pipe issue. The pipes are working exactly as they are supposed to. If you don't like the pipes I would be happy to remove them. You seem to think that we should have articles for all the non-notable elementary schools, and that we should have red links pointing to them until those articles have been written to encourage people to write them. I've already explained to you, more than once, that elementary schools are very rarely notable. That means that we will almost certainly never have articles for those schools. Thus there is no point in having red links for them. We do not want red links that are going to encourage users to waste their time attempting to write articles about inherently non-notable elementary schools. Meters (talk) 03:48, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. I am glad we worked this out and can move forward. Dfsjlk1 (talk) 04:39, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
