Gender

[edit]

@Ne0dym01: and @OliOblivious:: Regarding your edits: I'm happy you are supporting your statements with sources, but almost all the sources you are giving still describe Nakayama as an actress. The Vogue interview states the description at the bottom as this: 13歳でデビューし、雑誌や広告で活躍中のモデル。ジェンダーレスなファッションと佇まいが話題となり、同年代からカリスマ的人気を誇る。モデルとしてだけでなく、女優としてドラマ・映画・舞台など活躍の場を広げる注目の存在。. The exact term in Japanese for non-binary is "X gender" and there is no source that uses that term explicitly nor has Nakayama used that term. The term genderless in a Japanese context is specifically used to describe a fashion subculture where people dress androgynously. You need to have better sources or point out specific quotes to define as such. Also, this is merely an observation but both your accounts were only recently created and used just to update this article. lullabying (talk) 01:27, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Lullabying:: Thank you for your consideration. It is true I only just made this account in order to edit this page; however, I have been researching Nakayama's background for 3 months now and, although you might say I am biased, I have translated both LINE blog articles linked. I can even provide them if you wish, and I can refer you to other people who can back it up. Do you trust a single media outlet's word more than the person themselves? If you have gripes with just the gender issue, you didn't have to undo all the additional information I have provided. Nakayama has REPEATEDLY stated, in several instances, both written and spoken, that they do not wish to be treated as a woman. They even said, word for word, in one of the LINE blog posts, "being perceived as a woman makes me so sick I could vomit". You brought up the Vogue interview, where Nakayama themself said "わたしも自分のことを男でもない、女でもないっていう存在と感じているので、“ジェンダーレス女子”という言葉が自分の立ち位置を本当にきちんと説明してくれているのか、考えるとわからなくなることもあります。" Nakayama has never chosen a single label for themself like "agender" or "X-gender", but it is blatantly obvious they are at the very least what we would call non-binary. I hope you will take this into consideration. Ne0dym01 (talk) 02:52, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Ne0dym01: Sure, thanks for clarifying. If you can remind me to that specific blog post, I'll make sure to include it once edits are revised. lullabying (talk) 06:17, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Lullabying:: Thank you for replying. Since you are the one demanding proof, I will assume you can read and comprehend Japanese, so I won't provide translations. These are a few of the instances where Nakayama has made it clear they do not wish to be seen as either a man nor a woman. In fact, they prefer to be seen as simply "Nakayama Satsuki". The lack of a single concrete label does not erase the fact that, by all accounts, if we were to describe them from a Western, English-speaking point of view, Nakayama is a non-binary person. The usage of gender-neutral pronouns is simply meant to convey their wish not be perceived as any gender.
無性愛 (LINE blog): "私のこのモヤモヤした 表現できない気持ちに 言葉が付いてる... 無性愛者 とも言うらしいです" (this post is not directly related to gender but to asexuality, however I feel it is just as relevant)
Curiously, this tweet from this morning: "自分が女であるという現実が辛くて 何度も生きていく事を諦めそうになったけど その事を考えていない時だけは、楽しく生きていられるから。"
Hopefully this should be enough to convince you. I would, of course, prefer it if the page were reverted to my version, not only because of the gender-neutral pronouns, but also because I've added relevant Career information that was lacking before. Thank you for your time.Ne0dym01 (talk) 10:42, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for providing information. I reverted it to your version but will encourage you to look for other sources besides Twitter or primary sources due to WP:PRIMARYSOURCES. lullabying (talk) 21:16, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate your comprehension, I am new to Wikipedia so I didn't know about that policy. I am honestly saddened by it; LGBT voices deserve to be heard and minimising primary sources feels a little like erasure. If I come across additional and more appropriate sources I will be sure to include them in the article, as it is my genuine desire to spread this information to as many people as possible. Once again, thank you for giving it some thought. Ne0dym01 (talk) 22:21, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Lullabying: What is your personal beef with nkymsan explicitly not wanting to be called a woman? You deleted a lot of unrelated information just to get rid of respectful language. 03:40, 27 April 2020 (UTC)69.126.48.175 (talk)[reply]
