Beginning Sources for Schubert at the Piano

[edit]

Hello! I am hoping to write an article about Klimt’s painting, Schubert at the Piano. Here are some of the sources I plan to use!

“Gustav Klimt | Biography, Art, & Facts.” In Encyclopædia Britannica, 2019. https://www.britannica.com/biography/Gustav-Klimt.

Karnes, Kevin C. “Wagner, Klimt, and the Metaphysics of Creativity in Fin-de-Siècle Vienna.” Journal of the American Musicological Society 62, no. 3 (2009): 647–97. https://doi.org/10.1525/jams.2009.62.3.647.

Additional Facet of Research

[edit]

On Wikimedia Commons, there is a photo of an earlier version of Schubert at the Piano, painted in 1896. In my research, I didn’t see any mention of this earlier oil-painted version. One source (lacking in reliable credibility) mentioned an earlier watercolor, and another source (also not strongly credible) mentioned and showed sketches of the women that stand behind Schubert in the final work. I chose not to include these in the article as their existence wasn’t confirmed by multiple sources, but they certainly warrant further research! DerKuss0708 (talk) 03:11, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
