Schweppes Tonic

[edit]

This product is a favorite at our house. Especially the diet version. We have tasted many brands, but none others taste as good. I saw an older bottle recently called "Indian Tonic Water". Wikipedia explained the origin. Thank you.

Johann/Jean

[edit]

Was it definately created by Johann Jacob Schweppe? The lemonade bottle has the name Jean Jacob Schweppe written on it —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brooza (talkcontribs) 10:38, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It may be a bit late now, but Jean is just the French version of Johann.--Gidoca (talk) 20:06, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bloody Short.

[edit]

This article is far too short. Schweppes is a world wide known drink, I am shocked to see this article being labelled as a 'stub'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.154.180.161 (talk) 04:48, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Complex ownership structure

[edit]

The ownership of the Schweppes brand is, especially in Europe, split between various companies that acquired the respective regional rights from Catbury. In Germany and Austria e. g. neither Dr Pepper nor Coca-Cola own the rights, but Krombacher does. Same goes for many European countries, but also some Asian countries, with respective companies. --SamWinchester000 (talk) 04:46, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

REQUEST FOR AMMENDMENTS SCHWEPPES'S ARTICLE

[edit]

  • What I think should be changed:

  • Why it should be changed:

The reason for this correction is due to errors and inaccuracies in relation to the definition of the Schweppes® trademark in the Wikipedia encyclopaedia.

In all these definitions, the Schweppes® trademark is referred to as a universal and international trademark, explaining in a confusing and erroneous way the vicissitudes related to the ownership of this trademark.

However, we inform you that the Schweppes® trademark cannot be qualified as an international or universal trademark, insofar as its ownership is divided between different business groups throughout the world, including in Europe, where the ownership of the Schweppes® trademark is split in the different European territories between our client's business group and The Coca Cola Company.

It is for this reason that we have tried to make the appropriate changes in order to clarify the information shown in your encyclopaedia on the ownership of the Schweppes® trademark -especially taking into consideration the relevance of the information shown in Wikipedia for internet users around the world-, although it has not been possible to incorporate them and the incorrect definitions of the Schweppes® trademark remain, despite the many attempts by our client to make the appropriate clarifications.

  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

For this reason, we are constrained to contact you through this channel, so that you can inform us of how we can make the appropriate changes or, if appropriate, you can directly proceed to introduce the following clarifications in the definitions of the Wikipedia web pages mentioned above:

"Schweppes International Limited, a company of Suntory Beverage & Food Ltd, is proprietor of the Schweppes® trademark and its associated business in the following European countries[1]: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland, whilst in the European countries not referred in this list the Schweppes® trademark and its associated business is owned by The Coca-Cola Company[2].

The proprietorship of the Schweppes® trademark and its associated business in the rest of the world is hold separately by The Coca Cola Company[3], Asahi Beverages[4], Keurig Dr Pepper [5]and Jafora-Tabori[6]; having each one of these companies the ownership in different countries.

The existence of different trademark owning companies of the Schweppes® brand around the world, including single market regions as the European Union, entails that Schweppes® products cannot be invariably and without reserve marketed and commercialized from one country to another. Conversely, the marketing and commercialization of Schweppes® products from a given owner can only be performed in the countries where such company holds the Schweppes® trademark rights"[7] [8] [9] [10] [11].
