Merge[edit]

Suggesting to merge both Leader (Scouting) and Scoutmaster here. This way, the stubs of information on all adult volunteer jobs in Scouting can be enumerated in one place (avoiding duplication of effort) and using a term that will be recognizable to all, Scouter. --Habap 20:45, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose to merging under Scouter - internationally known is Scoutmaster, not Scouter. Also it is the term used by Baden-Powell. --jergen 21:25, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, but they don't even use the term in the UK anymore. Check the Scoutmaster article for places in which Scoutmaster is no longer used. So, while I am a Scoutmaster, my job is no longer known as that internationally. Additionally, there are a number of adult unit leader jobs which are all (to those not in the jobs) essentially the same. Rather than creating redundant articles on Venture Crew Leaders and Rover Leaders and Cubmasters, it's simply easier to have one article on Scouters, with descriptions of each of the various unit leader types. --Habap 21:32, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
SupportAs used in the USA, Scouter refers to ANY adult leader and Scoutmaster refers specifically to that job, the adult person in charge in charge of the program in a troop. So, therefore, all these jobs and articles fall under the term Scouter and hence an article named that. Rlevse 22:49, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Support to merge Scouter into Leader (Scouting). WOSM uses the word Leader rather than Scouter or Scoutmaster. (WOSM Link). It is easier to understand and in wikipedia it would be better to write in the international term rather than specific country. -- HenryLi (Talk) 03:58, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
support moving Scoutmaster and Leader (Scouting) hereChris 08:13, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Found this last night reading through Colonel J.S. Wilson's Scouting 'Round the World 1957 edition, page 16, "...Scouters (the generic name for all adult leaders)."
As there was no clear decision, I'm leaving Scoutmaster alone and merging Scouter into Leader (Scouting); with appropriate wiki links and redirects. Rlevse 16:44, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Uh you guys, a scouter is from DBZ. Nobody cares about scouts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.122.63.142 (talk) 20:31, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
