Engine
[edit]The Design section says Salmson, the Specs (from the Westland site) says Sunbeam radial. Barnes says Salmson (225 hp Sunbeam in the Type 827) as does Thetford British Naval Aircraft. Most Sunbeams were Vs; Barnes also says the Salmson was a two row radial, though not whether it was watercooled (probably at that time from them). Any objection to change?TSRL (talk) 19:16, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- Unless, of course the Westland built 20 had the Salmson engine. Searching Barnes ...TSRL (talk) 19:25, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- Barnes does refer to them (App J) as Type 166, not 827 which seems to imply Salmsons.TSRL (talk) 19:29, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- Aircraft Carriers by Paul E. Fontenoy [1] new Short Type 166 floatplane in 1914 with a 200-horsepower Salmson engine... MilborneOne (talk) 19:38, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- Discussion about engine confusion at [2] which says serial numbers 161 to 166 had the 200hp Salmson. MilborneOne (talk) 19:44, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds like it needs changing. I meant "of course, unless the Westland ... had the Sunbeam engine"!TSRL (talk) 19:56, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- Done, but what to do about the Westland ref?TSRL (talk) 19:59, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
