[edit]

Redirect entry applied October 26, 2006 to former (parallel) Wikipedia entry Shutruk Nahunte.

From that former Wikipedia entry Shutruk Nahunte:

During the Middle Elamite period, 1500-1100 B.C., the Elamites once again became an important power. Under the kings Untash-dGAL, Shutruk-Nahunte and Shilhak-inshushinak, Elam amassed an empire that included most of Mesopotamia and western Iran. A revitalized Babylon under Nebuchadrezzar I finally put an end to the empire, taking Susa at the end of the 12th c. B.C.

The name can also be written as Shutruk-Nahhunte. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.129.54.79 (talk) 02:24, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reference from The Emperor's Club

[edit]

I am Shutruk Nahunte, King of Anshand and Sussa, Sovereign of the land of Elam. I destroyed Sippar, took the stele of Niran-Sin, and brought it back to Elam, where I erected it as an offering to my god. Shutruk Nahunte - 1158 B.C.

Plate above Mr. Hundert's classroom door in The Emperor's Club (2002 Movie).

It's a quote from a virtually unknown king, who speaks of his list of conquests, but speaks nothing about the benefits. This king is unknown in history, because "great ambition and conquest without contribution is without significance."

Unifying the name

[edit]

- There are multiple pronunciations for the name of "Shutruk Nahhunte" which causes confusion for readers. I have edited the name and used just one form. - There is a typo in the name of Naram-Sin (it was Niran-Sin) which i corrected it but editor "Sumanuil" revised the edit twice (even revised the typo back) without giving any reason. I really want to understand why an editor is so insisting on keeping typos in the article? Kindattu.Inshushinak (talk) 08:14, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

IT'S NOT A TYPO. The plaque in the movie says "Niran-Sin". I already said this in my edit summary. Maybe watch the first five minutes? It's on YouTube. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 08:21, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

And multiple writings for just one name?
What is the logic behind that? Kindattu.Inshushinak (talk) 08:27, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ask the set designers, not me. They're the ones who chose to spell it that way. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 08:47, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Then you won't revise my edit if I edit the name and unify it? (Don't worry, i leave that precious plaque alone). Kindattu.Inshushinak (talk) 08:51, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see what needs "unifiying". - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 15:35, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You know there is a trail of edit on wikipedia, right?
After i explained multiple times that the name needs a single form of writing because it's confusing for readers you edited on of them (Šutruk)
This is the list of how the name has been written in the article:
- Shutruk-Nakhunte
- Shutruk-Nahhunte
- Šutruk- Nakhunte
After you revised my edit you just correct the third form (which i had done it before), now be kind and use just on of those forms. I suggest "Shutruk-Nahhunte" because its how it pronounced in Elamite.

Stick with the title, but provide the pronunciation. This is English Wikipedia, not Elamite. Most readers won't know what to do with the diacritical, and not using the title's spelling in the article doesn't make sense. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 06:42, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
