39th Army

[edit]

It appears the 39th Army is not credited with participation in this operation as it remained facing Kaunas, and operating in that direction for the time period in question--mrg3105 (comms) ♠13:47, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First of, great series and great job! But I have a questions why Shyaulyay? I understand that it is transliteration from Russian, but say for Vilnius or Kaunas offensive you are using the current official city names. So why not to go with Šiauliai? Renata (talk) 13:36, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this is how the names were represented in the sources used, IIRC. Esdrasbarnevelt (talk) 11:33, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Would you mind renaming? Then it would be consistent, and Šiauliai has half a dozen different transliterations in Russian. Renata (talk) 15:12, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Personally I'm happier going with the sources for various reasons, but perhaps it would be better thrown open to discussion here Esdrasbarnevelt (talk) 14:52, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Šiauliai is Lithuanian city, not Russian. The correct translation from Lithuanian would be Shiauliai.--213.185.7.116 (talk) 11:42, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
