Picture[edit]

You may want to use the picture of Sithel in the crystal case of "Firstborn" for his picture.--Kranar drogin 06:31, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You mean this picture?[1] DoomsDay349 00:30, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, he is the one in the coffin. That is suppose to be Kith-Kanan standing there I believe, but that I am not sure about, can't remember.--Kranar drogin 02:35, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Also adding same image to Kith Kanan.ddcc 03:03, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... I am not completely sure our Fair use criteria accepts it... I will check. -- ReyBrujo 03:11, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Why wouldn't it be accepted? DoomsDay349 04:01, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Check the 7th counterexample of Fair use. -- ReyBrujo 05:57, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, I didn't get it from that site. I got it from the rereleased mass market edition on amazon.co.uk (it's on the [[Image:Firstborn.jpg]]. ddcc 17:36, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If I understand correctly, that is for magazine covers...isn't this a book? DoomsDay349 01:33, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is a generic example; they are basically the same for the policy. It is like saying that, according to the second counterexample, An image of a rose, cropped from an image of a record album jacket, used to illustrate an article on roses means you can't crop a rose from an album but you could from a cover of a book ;) -- ReyBrujo 01:38, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Huh, thats too bad that you can't use part of an image. What if Wizards.com uses part of an image. I think they did that once where it was a zoom of of Sithel in the coffin. Oh well, that book cover is better than nothing.--Kranar drogin 01:53, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think they have licensed the image (or own it in some way) from the original author. I don't think they can claim Fair use, as they are using it for profit. Wikipedia policy is much stricter for Fair use is even stricter than US law, because of Wikipedia goal of being as free as possible. Although the book image can't be used in the infobox, it would be possible to show the cover of the book later in the article if there is a section that talks about Sithel's participation in the book, which I find is something that will eventually happen as he is one of the main focuses of the series. -- ReyBrujo 01:59, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
