I'm watching the pilot right now, and at least two of the contestants reek of Actor. Is this show even "real"? UPDATE: at 35:27 into the pilot, one contestant "8" has a wireless mic transmitter in her back pocket, indicating that sound technicians enter the pod rather frequently, or that the actors don't remain inside their pods for much time at all. I'm ashamed to say I have been on a reality TV show, and there is no way in hell a sound tech would allow you to go to sleep with his mic pack in your pocket, especially a show that has the kind of budget that allows for a grand prize of $50,000
Additionally, some of the camera shots in the pilot cannot be accounted for by the placement of the one-way mirrors. A camera operator would have to be inside the pod for some angles.
Another concern is the sheer number of camera operators this show seems to have in its employment. There are at presumably at least 9 cameras (one for each actor) but the filming implies multiple cameras per actor, likely numbering 3 per actor, for a total of 27. For a reality show, that is quite a lot of overhead.
This show, at least the pilot, is more like a piloshit.

Umm, is there someone out there who can give a good write-up of episode one? I didn't get into the show until ep 2. D.valued 05:14, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Yes. I recap it for Realitynewsonline.com ... the link is http://www.realitynewsonline.com/cgi-bin/ae.pl?mode=4&article=article6194.art&page=1
I also recapped the other episodes. Jeffrey Clinard
Can someone expand on episode 6? I haven't seen all of it yet. Nsider 14:12, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Alarm Test in episode 1
[edit]"Only two of the nine players quit this challenge, with number 8 (Danielle) being just a mere second behind the eliminated player." Are you sure about that? I would think Fox just edited it to look like they pressed the button at closer times... Then again I could be wrong. --Terronez 22:42, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
<<NOTE FROM THE EDITOR: When I saw one of the videos on Val's MySpace, they showed the first treatment. Maybe Fox did do some clever editing, or it did come close. I took that clause out for the time being.>>
The disclaimer at the end of the episodes ("Portions of this program have been edited without affecting the outcome.") implies that what we see may not occur in the actual order it happens in, but the outcome doesn't change. This means that it is possible she pushed the button an hour later, but they implied 0.1 seconds later in order to increase the dramatic effect.
Why not change this line to: "Only two of the nine players quit this challenge, with number 8 (Danielle) shown quiting just a mere second behind the eliminated player." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.183.255.224 (talk) 21:16, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
Length Of Time
[edit]It would be nice if someone knows just how long each person was actually in those pods it would be a nice piece of information to add to the page. Are we talking days, weeks, or month+.
From what I know of they have a episode a day and so that would be nine days. The winner is can leave on the last day.(Mr.Smart Guy) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.3.8.1 (talk) 23:40, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Say What?!
[edit]This show seems a little crazy to me. Keeping people locked in individual pods for who knows how long, treating them to physical and mental discomforts (enough, in some cases, to induce psychological trauma), and making them do insane challenges. Are there any reviews worth posting in this article that either support or denounce the show? It would be cool to know the opinions of television reviewers. -- Tuvok^Talk|Desk|Contribs 05:10, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- The show's not at all crazy, it's completely level headed. My only regret is that this article neglects to use the one term which sums up what the contestants experience, that term, of course, being torture. The show uses tactics very similar to those used by a military to physically emotionally and psychalogically break down a prisoner. It's actually a very interesting look into the practice of torture in a safe environment (the contestants participate of their own free will).
- By the way, is there some way we can include the word "torture"? That's clearly what the show focuses on, so wouldn't it help improve the article?
- 55.76, Torture is involuntary. From the article: "any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him or a third person information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other person acting in an official capacity.". Contrast with the program: It is NOT involuntary (explicit in season 2's runup ep, they know what they're getting into; in any event, the standard Reality Show Contract states that there may be discomfort or pain etc as part of the program). They can leave at any time (q.v. S2E1, where #4 up and quits) voluntarily or may be expelled if conditions require. D.valued 04:34, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Re-introducing detail about S1 eps?
[edit]Would it be possible to reincorporate more specific information on the tests and treatments of the episodes to date? D.valued 04:35, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- With time, D.valued, I'll finish it up. - PGSONIC 00:34, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Who keeps spoiling?
[edit]There is someone or some people out there who is/are consistently one-ahead and keeps giving away details to tests and treatments that haven't been released yet. How was I supposed to know who won this week's test without seeing it?
PLEASE. Stop giving away details to episodes that haven't been previewed unless we know it.

- If it airs in the east coast, it's not a spoiler.74.229.215.99 16:45, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- Also note that Season 2 Episode 6 was accidentally aired on the morning that Season 2 Episode 5 was to be aired. - PGSONIC 00:39, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Solitarysplash.jpg
[edit]Image:Solitarysplash.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

seperate page for different seasons?
[edit]noted that Survivor has a main page and season by season page on its own, is it viable to split as per Survivor? understand that Survivor has more than 10 seasons already and hence the need for the split. just thinking aloud the possibility for Solitary. --Xaiver0510 (talk) 01:43, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
About the sources
[edit]Why is their a tag asking that someone put in some third party sources? Considering that third party sources are unlikely to get any information other than the information that Fox releases, well, doesn't that defeat the purpose? ~Icalasari —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.64.116.157 (talk) 04:18, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

In before RobRob
[edit]You heard it here first. Halfway into the sweat treatment and it's glaringly obvious that its RobRob. Good thing he gets another chance. Blacknumbers (talk) 04:27, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Also, it's the 29th, not the 30th where I live. Suck it! Blacknumbers (talk) 04:29, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Vandalism
[edit]There's obvious vandalism in the contestant section of 4.0. I don't know how to change it because I haven't seen the episode yet (I have to wait for hulu to get it because I no longer receive Fox Reality). Can someone do that, please? Stjimmy61892 (talk) 20:39, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
What do you mean by vandalism? It seems fine to me. INateYou (talk) 18:45, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oh it was changed almost right away, but someone had changed all the names of the contestants to a lot of stereotypical black names, but I couldn't change it back cuz I hadn't seen the episode yet.64.148.21.82 (talk) 22:34, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Critisism?
[edit]Hello. I just skimmed through the article and actually missed any criticism on the series regarding human dignity and so on. As I am neither a native speaker nor have I ever seen the series, I cannot give any comment about this. However, I think there should be some critical thoughts embedded into the article. --91.7.89.217 (talk) 18:17, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
