Name Inspiration
[edit]Can someone find out why the girl is called Somali, this noun belongs to a rather famous East African ethnic group from the country of Somalia. What was the manga/anime creators inspiration for the title and name of the young girl? My hunch is he came across a cat breed called Somali which is very popular in Japan and shows up all over search results when you engine search Somali translated into Japanese characters ソマリ, the breed takes its name from the country. If someone could dig deeper I'd appreciate it. 45.29.233.185 (talk) 09:33, 29 August 2019 (UTC)Thanx
- In my head-canon, the entire war between humans and monster-kind in this manga/anime is an allegory of the many struggles between native people and colonialists in the real world. Like the real world natives, humans were seen as savages by monster-kind, who literally treat humans like animals. Like what certain colonial powers did to certain native ethnic groups throughout real world history, monster-kind had hunted mankind to near extinction. That said, the manga/anime did not delve very much into government politics or military businesses of either sides. - Hu753 (talk) 12:09, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
