Needs more historical information. Why was it settled? Why was it abandoned? QazPlm 22:56, 17 May 2006 (UTC) I've removed " which was the Australian explorer, Douglas Jardine's last stand". Douglas Jardine was a cricketer. this suggests that the Somerset was established by police magistrate John Jardine and his sons Frank Jardine and Alec Jardine had an adventurous overland expedition to get there across uncharted land. Possibly Edmund Kennedy is meant here, but I don't have time to check tonight. --Scott Davis Talk 15:43, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should this page be in the "Populated places in Far North Queensland" category?

[edit]

Should the page Somerset, Queensland be in the "Populated places in Far North Queensland" category? The place seems to be abandoned and indeed was found to have no population in the 2011 census. --TheFancyHuman (talk) 11:00, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
