Not his debut mixtape

[edit]

The definition of debut is "a person's first appearance or performance in a particular capacity or role." This is not Bazzi's first appearance as a musical artist. Cosmic was his musical artist debut. This is his first mixtape, not debut. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Billiekhalidfan (talkcontribs) 16:51, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Billiekhalidfan: What are you misunderstanding about the sentence you literally just quoted? Bazzi's first appearance in a particular capacity—that capacity being his first mixtape, therefore his debut mixtape. You are taking "debut" to only mean "first ever release" and that's not the case. Granted, using "debut" the way the article is is uncommon, but it's not incorrect. Also, remember to sign your posts. Ss112 17:03, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ad Orientem: @Sergecross73: Pinging two admins for their input. What do both of you think? Is this use of "debut" correct, to mean "first of its kind", despite it not being the artist's first release overall (and therefore not "debut" overall)? Ss112 17:11, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, there’s a difference between “debut” and “debut type of release”. Sergecross73 msg me 18:57, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
