The first time I heard of the South African Light Horse was when I learned that my Great Grandfather was in this regiment but I had trouble learning about them. Somehow I found out that Winston Churchill was also a member but when I read his Wikipedia page, the link directed me to the Imperial Light Horse which was wrong. I strongly felt that such a notable character as Winnie would not have approved of this mistake so I resolved to correct it. Most of what I have written was inspired by his own story. As for my G.Grandad I have since learned that he joined only 2 weeks before the war ended!
