The pronunciations

[edit]

@Savvyjack23: Hello! Are you sure the transcriptions are correct? Villedrouin in this record sounds [vildʁwin]? LoveVanPersie (talk) 20:58, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

LoveVanPersie, thank you for catching my mistake! I did not mean to add the ɛ. Indeed, it is supposed to sound like VEEL-Doo-EH, not VEEL-AY-Doo-EH. In regards to the video you sent me, I don't know if the interviewer is saying her name correctly, though you have the proper IPA anyway. It sounds like his nasal -in is vague, like in between nasal and an enne sound. See: [1] for a more precise pronunciation. (Listen to it 0.5 speed, it helps) The interviewer is Valerio Saint-Louis, he is arguably the best reporter (dead or alive) in the Haitian media and is completely fluent in both French and Haitian Creole, thus his pronunciations are very authentic and standard of both of Haiti's languages.
