An interesting article, but:

[edit]

What did Evans do after his resignation as an MP? All we know from the current article is that he resigned after the Suez Crisis, and died over a decade later.

I'd love to answer that question but the sources are lacking. No occupation was listed in "Who's Who". He may have retired; more likely is that he went back to his business supplying sand. There was a trace of him making a speech in 1959 in which he attacked Hugh Gaitskell and defended his stance on Suez. I'll dig it out and check it again. He went back to work at his sand quarry, and dropped out of political life almost completely (I believe there were a few articles in the papers, but nothing more active than that). Source: He was my grandfather (who I never met, sadly) so that's anecdotal from conversations with my father. – Steve Evans, 07 June '10. 188.221.248.86 (talk) 16:38, 7 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for confirming that - it ties up a loose end. Sam Blacketer (talk) 20:44, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is now a book in the British Library of his writings. This is a composite of his diary while travelling (a cruise he took for health reasons) and his "Christmas Cards" which were commentary on events of the day. http://explore.bl.uk/primo_library/libweb/action/display.do?tabs=moreTab&ct=display&fn=search&doc=BLL01015950877&indx=1&recIds=BLL01015950877&recIdxs=0&elementId=&renderMode=poppedOut&displayMode=full&dscnt=0&fctN=facet_rtype&frbrVersion=&fctV=books&tab=local_tab&dstmp=1340811237984&mode=Basic&fromLogin=true&vl%28freeText0%29=stanley%20n%20evans&vid=BLVU1

I don't know if this can be added to the main article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.166.9.155 (talk) 15:36, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
