Is the principal
[edit]Despite the claims of one person that in one episode it was stated that Barkin is not the principal, and apparently something that a writer said in one interview early in the production of the three-season series, in nearly every other episode Barkin is depicted doing things that only a principal (or by extension, a vice principal) would be allowed to do. For instance:
- meting out discipline to the student body
- appearing as the sole charperone on all-day or over-night school trips
- being in charge of other teachers on school trips
- leading pep rallies
- hiring and appointing substitute teachers
- having an office that is not within a classroom
- making announcements and pronouncements over the loud-speaker system
- making school policy
The episodes in which the character performs these sorts of activities are too numerous to mention, and the person who insists that Barkin is not the principal seems unable to produce any verification in support of the claim that Barkin is not the principal. Let's see some proof. Barkin IS the principal, or at least the vice principal. He is NOT a substitute teacher. You think otherwise, cough up the documentation. Otherwise, I'm rewriting the article. - I don't know about you're school, but in my school any senior teacher could manage discipline, chaperoned duties were handled by subject teachers (geography teachers lead the geography field trips etc), school spirit was handled by the sports staff, the announcements were often made by clerical staff, and most of the senior teachers had separate offices. Still, he's not the principle for the reasons stated below.
- I checked All The News and the newspaper editor does say "I don’t care if she both your principal and your mother". But I agree that Barkins could be the vice-principal. =D Jumping cheese 04:31, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- Well, here we go. This was stated by Mark McCorkle (KP co-creator/executive producer) on November 5, 2005: "Barkin comes off as such an authority figure that everybody thinks he's Principal. But he's just the permanent substitute." --Erased Paper 06:58, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
During the end credits, Barkin (off screen) says, "STOPPABLE! In my office! NOW!
Worst Nightmare
[edit]In episode Grande Size Me, When Ron says "your worst nightmare", Barkin says "The one with Abe Liken and the pool sharks?". I'm not sure if I'm hearing it correctly. Can someone please verify? Thanxs. =D Jumping cheese Cont@ct 08:34, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Mutantbarkin2.png
[edit]Image:Mutantbarkin2.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
