Definition

The definition requires work:

It can be applied to performance (eg a small theatrical production), as well as the space in which the performance takes place.
The performance space itself is usually a 'black box' infinitely adaptable to the needs of a production
The size range is too specific - as there is a considerable grey area between a flexible small performance space and a theatre with proscenium arch, permanent stage and lighting and fixed seating area.
Also need to decide whether this is an article - defining the term, or a disambiguation page.

Re-assessment and re-write

I've re-written the article on the basis of the source provided, which defines it as a generic space. I haven't defined it as a type of performance, since the source didn't justify that. Disambiguation provided with the hat. Any studio theatres can be added to the Studio theatres category. Re-assessed for the theatre project to start class, mid-importance. Merger proposal

I propose that Studio theatre be merged into Black box theater. I think that there isn't really a difference between the two, and the Studio article is of a reasonable size that the merging will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. 2604:2D80:442B:C3B2:BCE0:2B85:8853:196A (talk) 23:14, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
