Biased editing
[edit]This article has been edited by biased writers multiple times. People from the area are constantly putting in unsourced or irrelevant information. This article should be locked to unregistered users to prevent it from becoming a mess. It's very obvious that people from Sullivan, Indiana have been editing and making this article. - It also only includes the positive independent research. It fails to mention aspects such as, on average Sullivan High School fails to meet the national GQE passing average. Those 10% taking advanced placement classes don't mean a whole lot when the school comes dangerously close to losing funding thanks to "no child left behind" Again, if unsourced information such as "10% of the school took advance placement classes and 88% went on the a college education" can be included with no reliable sources. Then topics such as Sullivan High Schools 60+ year old Chemist teacher was having an affair on his wife with one of his 16 year old students. When the school discovered this they took no legal recourse against the teacher in spite of the young girls parents wishes to do so. He was allowed to keep his teaching license and continued to teach in Kentucky where he could victimize more students. If vague positive statements can be allowed with no source than information such as this should be allowed too. Considering you could find a source for Mr. Kreigs Pedophilia quicker than you could about these advanced placement courses. (98.212.25.32 (talk) 19:48, 4 February 2010 (UTC))
Let's work together on this
[edit]Hi. I'm currently a student at SHS and can attest to all the information that you deleted earlier from this entry. I don't see why you deleted the body of my contributions to this article- if you need sources everything is available in the SHS Student Handbook. A copy isn't online though- what should we do about it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.175.146.179 (talk) 03:58, 11 February 2010 (UTC) ([[Special:Contributions/98.212.25.32
My edits
[edit]I've re-added the majority of the information that was in the article prior to your edits. Please add any other information that you think is necessary. I'm not trying to pick a fight, God knows SHS isn't a gold star school by any means, but at the same time we can make sure that this article is as all-encompassing as it can be. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.175.146.179 (talk) 04:06, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- I can understand information being located in the student handbook being a source, books and other mediums of information that are not available online are a very common source on Wikipedia. I can also understand you are a current student of SHS and just want to reflect it properly. However, as a former student of shs and a shs alumni, I am fully aware of the biased editing by shs's IT and admin. I was personally involved in it at one point. At one point the "webmasters" after school groups' sole purpose was to monitor SHS's Wikipedia to try and catch anyone making adverse edits to the schools wiki on a schools IP address. (blitzkrieg anyone?)
Anyways I digress that's far from the topic, just trying to express my point of why I edit this article so defensively.
Back to the topic, I left the information you readded back in. I did edit it to remove weasel terms ("several", "some", "this year", "they", "a couple", "a few") This was not a full list or a partial list of any direct examples, just vague examples of weasel terms.
I've spent a couple years battling sock puppets on this article and considering you are the first and only person to contend to the edits I'm willing to accept that you are not here for personal gain and will work with your edits.
Please let it be known, however, that we are getting close to 3rr (we are both at 2 reverts on the same article), and it would be in both of our best interests to leave the article as it is now and work on it from their, as otherwise arbitrary committee would have to get involved and that's just as fun as going to court, and too many people have had to go to a pseudo-court over SHS's self inflated ego. I would also like to point out that I am aware the previous addition to this page would have been more suited to be posted on your user page, but I had a hard time finding yours. I should also point out that I am not an admin to this page or have any type of privileges to this page and edits are open to the entire community. I've just been the only one paying attention to this article for quite some time now, other than members of SHS faculty. (98.212.25.32 (talk) 16:36, 5 March 2010 (UTC))
