Where did you get the information in the Freedom 7 flight profile table? I have a source (Kenneth Gatland, Manned Spacecraft) which contradicts it in several respects: e.g. cutoff occurred at 0:42 (not 02:20 which sounds more like an Atlas), speed 4500 MPH and altitude 196,000 feet (60 km). Flight event summaries[edit]

Is there information for the other 4 manned Mercury missions? I realize that they may be somewhat similar to the ones listed, but there are differences, especially with Liberty Bell 7, which had the hatch explosion and the capsule sinking.Jtyroler (talk) 13:45, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think the intent of these tables was to illustrate the nominal launch and reentry events, for which the Shepard and Glenn flights were the models. Both of these flights are listed because of the difference in timing, speeds and G-forces between the Redstone and Atlas vehicles. The only significant thing that would really vary from flight to flight would be the length of time in orbit between launch and reentry. Adding similar tables for all the flights would be way too much detail here (as opposed to the individual mission articles.) The significant notable events from each flight (such as the hatch blowing) are listed in the manned missions table. JustinTime55 (talk) 22:14, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
