Earlier dates
[edit]I recently got hold of my dads old surform and was surprised to find it was made by "Simmons Accessories Ltd" in the UK rather than Stanley. Doing a little digging I can find a references to Simmons making the surform in '56[1] and also an earlier one to Australian patent by Firth in 1949[2]--Salix (talk): 13:56, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! I have worked this information into the article. Your second source is a discussion group, and they mention a reliable source: Australian Woodworking PlaneMakers Second edition by Trevor D. Semmens. I have not seen that source but I accept the discussion group as an indirect source. --Una Smith (talk) 15:48, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
