Isn't a taiaha a spear?
[edit]Why is a taiaha not described as a spear? I've looked into this and a lot of cultural sites describe it as a spear-like weapon, or mistaken to be a spear. However, in every way the taiaha meets the definition of a spear, having a haft and a pointed end. A spear is a generic word for a type of weapon, and it seems that a taiaha is a specific type of spear. So why not call it that way? 80.189.73.1 (talk) 01:47, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- Except that it's not a "haft", it's a long flat "blade", and is used much more like a staff or katana than a spear. Snori (talk) 12:20, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
Hmmm

External links modified
[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Taiaha. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20111115165749/http://www.army.mil.nz/culture-and-history/nz-army-culture/badge.htm to http://www.army.mil.nz/culture-and-history/nz-army-culture/badge.htm
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.

Photograph of complete weapons?
[edit]It would be nice to have a photograph showing the full length of the weapon to give a clearer idea.69.173.97.228 (talk) 20:06, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
