Meredith van de Velde[edit]

The speculations from van de Velde about the Biblical connections with present localities have often been showed to be wrong. (He is no Robinson!) We should, methinks, be careful to attribute info from him; and not make is opinion (alone) appear as "the canon", Huldra (talk) 23:01, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I attributed it. If you think he lacks enough credibility to be mentioned in the article at all, go ahead and remove the bit. --Al Ameer son (talk) 23:31, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No, I think he should stay in: I have seen other (present -day scholars) use him. As it is, is fine IMO.
On another note: we have a problem about the name: So far I have seen 3 different explanations for it! Beside the one we have in the article, we also have Palmer and the SWP-ref ( 228 ) -about the Crusader -place. Cheers, Huldra (talk) 23:52, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
We could just have a passage containing all three histories/definitions of the name and attribute. --Al Ameer son (talk) 23:56, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding "Tabbath" it might be worth mentioning that it is (sometimes, usually, now?) placed somewhere else. For example this book seems to identify it with "Ras Abu-Tabat near Tell es-Saidiyeh". I say "seems" since it won't show me the page that is on. I'm out of time so I don't know if that is an accepted identification or what. Zerotalk 01:11, 26 July 2012 (UTC) Found a good source for that, I'll edit later. Zerotalk 01:37, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for clarifying and making the adjustment. --Al Ameer son (talk) 16:32, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
