Tatapudi is a small village located on the bay of Godavari River of India. Tatapudi village is belonging to Ramachandara Puram Taluka in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh State. It is one of the recognised and authorized GODAVARI PUSHKAR GHATS for performing Hindu Rituals during GODAVARI PUSHKARA period.
You will find brahmin community people belonging to AARAMA DRAVIDULU Saakha and great saint, BRAHMARSHI VASISHTHA gotra with Tatapudi as SURNAME.
You also find some community belonging to Scheduled caste and Scheduled Tribe with this SURNAME. This is because, BRAHMARSHI VASISHTA had married to the STAR WOMAN ARUNDHATI. ARUNDHATI was belonging to Scheduled caste woman also called MADIGA community.
Mythological understanding was, that when Sri Rama of Ikshwaaku dynasty was ordered to live in forests for 14 years by his father (Dasaradha) as it was the execution of two boons given to one of Dasaradha's wife Kaikeyi. In that context, Raja Guru Vasishtha had sent some of his belongings (Disciples, sons, grandsons etc.....) to follow Sri Rama to give moral support. Thus people had followed and some of them had stopped following after some time as per their will and wish. Thus it is understood, one such community group had stopped following Rama (when Rama had lived along the coastaline of GODAVARI RIVER, Bhadrachalam is one such manifestation)
GODAVARI river joins with Bay of Bengal at Antarvedi near Narasapuram town of West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. You can find Vasista Ashram, Vasisa Temple and the relationship of Vasista with Antarvedi, with Temples here etc.
It looks like a specific group belonging to Vasista had settled in the Tatapudi Village of GODAVARI BAY (which come under Ramachandara Puram Taluka) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tgkvasista (talk • contribs) 07:58, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
