Novelas That Saved Telemundo

It is generally agreed that what saved Telemundo from bankruptcy in 2000 was when they aired the Brazilian novela Xica da Silva and the Colombian novela Yo Soy, Betty la Fea. Both novelas were international sensations that aire first in Telemundo. This article should mention that.

Laughing stock

The following is in the article: The network also tried its luck by having a priest anchor a talk show. "Padre Alberto", Father Alberto Cutie, a Miami priest was tapped in to host this program. Sadly, this venture also failed. If Telemundo had any traces of ratings this experiment was the last nail on its coffin. Telemundo became the laughing stock of the industry. Viewers left the network in droves. Local stations lost the little audience share they had and heads began to roll once again. The Tortoricci team was out and Jim MacNamara a former Universal Pictures executive born in Panama was hired to preside over embattled Telemundo. Is this true? The words laughing stock are harsh. John wesley 14:53, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

Not necessarily, Before NBC Universal bought the network, Telemundo used to be regularly parodied on Saturday Night Live. I read elsewhere that Telemundo had been considered a Laughing Stock, but added a request for citation to that part of the article. --dhett 21:20, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Yahoo! Telemundo?

What about Yahoo! Telemundo??? Is it owned by Yahoo! or by Telemundo? I'm seriously confused!

I cleared it up now, so if your confsed again, let me know.. Lugnuts6 19:33, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Morning Wars

This section is quite confusing and poorly written. I tried cleaning it up, but couldn't tell when the editor was writing about De Mañanita, Telenoticias, or any of the other newscasts mentioned. Also, "breakfastcast", while clever, isn't a word, and therefore, shouldn't be used in the article. --dhett 21:20, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

I cleaned it up and dumped some dead weight,And gave each part its own title and a more concise explaination, made it clear as well. any problems, just ask Lugnuts6 01:52, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Renovating this Article

I renovated this article because this article didn't make any sense. There were a bunch of errors when it came to spelling, the history section was extremely long and confusing, and there were some unnecessary sections that needed to be cleared out. So, I hope you enjoy this new look.--jsalims80 20:25, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Slight Correction to make, the Saturday and Sunday lineup is incorrect, the new line up for Saturday and Sunday is (courtsey Telemundo) :

  • VAS O NO VAS 7-8:30 pm Saturday
  • SEGURO y URGENTE 8:30-9pm Saturday
  • CINEMUNDO SABADO 9-11p saturday
  • CINEMUNDO DOMINGO 7-11pm Sunday

Otherwise, not bad, concise and spelt better Lugnuts6 15:51, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I know I'm probably mistaken, but I thought WKAQ was channel 4 (canal 4).Godofredo29 (talk) 00:11, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Actually if you look at other broadcaster articles like Fox Broadcasting Company, its program section follows the Manual of Style which says information about television programs should be notable and in prose narrative form. Substantial programs should be a List article and appear as a See Main|Article as in the Fox_Broadcasting_Company#Programming section. The See further, which is a form of See Main|Article, wikilinks to List of programs broadcast by Fox. Additional information about why tvguide electronic program guide info is not detailed in a main article like Telemundo's is found at Wikipedia is not an electronic programming guide. --Morenooso (talk) 02:36, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Jose Diaz-Balart

Hello everyone, just wondering if it would be appropriate to put up a link to Jose Diaz-Balart, who is apparently an anchor for this Network, and if so, where would it be placed? Thanks, Thereen 01:55, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Still confusing to me the page. Just my opinion. Before it had a better discussion of past shows. Doesn't really matter to me. - Alan

Addition to Hialeah page

I removed this from the Hialeah page because it was not appropriate for that page but maybe it is useful for this article: Descripcion de Telemundo Telemundo, cadena estadounidense de televisión en español, es la fuente esencial de entretenimiento, noticias y deportes para los hispanos. Broadcasting unique national and local programming for the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population, Telemundo reaches 93% of U.S. Hispanic households in 142 markets through its 16 owned-and-operated stations, 36 broadcast affiliates, and nearly 684 cable affiliates. Telemundo is wholly owned by NBC Universal, one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies.

Schedules

I have restored the prime-time schedule to this article. While WP:NOT specifies that Wikipedia is not a TV Guide, it does make an exception for a nationwide network's prime-time schedule. Also, keep in mind that the English networks' schedules exist in their articles, with no opposition. -- azumanga (talk) 03:07, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Actually that has changed with updates to Manual of Style since your post. See my earlier post today (above) which recommends improving this article along with WP:NOTTVGUIDE. --Morenooso (talk) 02:55, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Cleanup tag added - 2010-04-06

This article has nonstandard citation method, WP:MOS style errors and indiscriminate information present within it. In order to bring it back up to proper Wikipedia Manual of Style class, the following is recommended:

  • Inline citations - Should take the form of [URL Title Retrieval-Date.]. Here is a verifiable reliable sourced citation:
  • Image location - is nonstandard. Images should be as MoS be located on the right side of the article and not greater than 180px.
  • TVguide section present - Should be in narrative prose form. Recommend either deleting or moving to a List article.
  • Coming Soon 2010 section - Please see WP:CRYSTAL. Source these additions and/or eliminate them if they cannot be sourced with WP:RS third party neutral citations.
  • Overlinkage of wikilinks - Wikilinks should only be linked once and preferrably the first time they appear in the article. A second mention of these wikilinks, like what was just typed, should not have brackets which cause overlinkage. --Morenooso (talk) 03:19, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

What about that program table and "table-ette", moreno oso? I'm totally on the fence. On the plus side, they're discreet, occupying less than a screenful of space. On the negative side, they're programming tables, a no no. I'm perfectly ambivalent. It's your decision, ursus. SamEV (talk) 23:35, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Are you talking about the big purple "honking" screen that screams, "Look at me?" If so, I won't sugarcoat it. It needs to go. It's a programming guide and the colors are unnecessary. ----moreno oso (talk) 23:50, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, that's one. Poof! Gone. SamEV (talk) 23:56, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
Concur. I had to break out some prescription shades to tone it down. There I go again, sugarcoating it. Delete per WP:NOTTVGUIDE. ----moreno oso (talk) 00:02, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
It was already gone when I wrote that last message: [1].
Some other day I'll again read the guidelines you wrote here and ask you what remains to be done. I don't want to look now, b/c I'm TV-ed out, again! (Hey, you're the TV buff, MO. Me? Not so much.) Hasta luego. SamEV (talk) 00:18, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
"Mean brown bear?" Where, where? Seriously, as per my recent edit summary, before your copyedits and cleanup, I really don't understand how this article was rated B class. The top for one WP escapes me. ----moreno oso (talk) 00:33, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
If you say so. I know nothing about rating.
I take back "Mean brown bear". Should have been "bad brown bear"; more alliterative. SamEV (talk) 00:38, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
I rate articles in my wiki-travels. B/High is the highest I will rate. Top signifies that this is "the end-all, must know all in order to understand this wikiproject". That is a bit overstated or sugar-coated, but indicates that the article really defines the wikiproject. Telemundo may contribute to the understanding of some wikiprojects but it is hardly the "end all" or "must know all". And, before your copyedits this article was not in a B status which usually means the wikiproject ran a checklist to determine if the article met standards for citations, composition, thoroughness, etc. ----moreno oso (talk) 12:39, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for explaining that! I understood it. SamEV (talk) 13:16, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

It wasn't so much for you but also other editors who may follow. Additionally, it's the justification for the rating downgrade from Top to Mid. That was an over-inflated rating. ----moreno oso (talk) 13:39, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Expanding on Telemundo Reality TV Shows

Telemundo introduced 2 reality TV Shows in 2003 and 2004, La Cenicienta and Amor Descardo. The addition of this entry can point to reality TV popularity in Spanish-speaking viewer markets. Conducting research now to confirm the high viewer ratings for the program La Cenicienta. Already conducted research on Nely Galan, Executive Producer of La Cenicienta. Any thoughts on expanding a subsection to include Telemundo's reality TV shows? Bluestarfish88 (talk) 08:33, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

Telemundo unveils new logo, rebrands network - 14 May 2012. http://www.mediamoves.com/2012/05/telemundo-unveils-new-logo-rebrands-network.html http://www.mediamoves.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Telemundo-logo-evolution.jpg — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.186.238.42 (talk) 16:46, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Once the network officially uses the new logo (don't know when... maybe this fall?), then the article will be updated to reflect that change. Platinum Star (talk) 17:32, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Telemundo Communications Group

I am proposing a merger of Telemundo Communications Group and this article because the other one is an unreferenced stub that may stand better as a redirect to this article due to notability issues. Fairly OddParents Freak (Fairlyoddparents1234) C 23:02, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

John Blair & Co.

A reference to "Blair Broadcasting" was added on 23 November 2006 without explaining how Blair had acquired WKAQ-TV from Ramos in order for Blair to sell the station to Reliance Group Holdings. The page for Ángel Ramos mentions that John Blair & Co. acquired Telemundo (presumably in the form of WKAQ-TV) on April 14, 1983. A New York Times article from July of that year states that Blair was awaiting FCC approval of its purchase of WKAQ-TV and styles the company name as "John Blair & Co." (John Blair Stations). However, there is currently no citation for the April date of sale. I have added the date of sale without citation and done some minor cleaning up. Ed Oppty (talk) 21:31, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Jose Dias Ballard

I have lived in this great country most of my life and I have never listened to such bias reporting as the socialistic comments and constant reporting of Jose Dias Ballard. If he had gas for brains he would not have enough to propel him around a BB. Shame on him and pn Telemundo for allowing such one sided reporting to people that truly love this Great TRUMP Country!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:582:8400:325C:BC98:A4F6:14A0:7C9 (talk) 22:45, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
