Notes and notes

[edit]

What's with all the references to character notes for this page? There are more references to notes than there are characters (38:28 at of this writing). It is excessive. Characters/actors should not be getting citations regardless. If for some reason, this is considered important for this show, a 'further reading' link can be added. There is already a link to the official site and an ANN page if people wish to research cast and characters so this is redundantly redundant. ogenstein (talk) 10:41, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WP:V demands that voice actors have to be sourced for their roles, or else that info will get purged from the page. There is nothing redundant about it. Sk8erPrince (talk) 10:44, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies for not responding sooner.

WP:V does not require that each character receive its own citation. Only material that is contentious, which does not apply in this case, (or quotations, exceptional claims, etc…) is required.

A couple of other points:

Once a show begins to air (or concludes airing) then there will likely be better sources than a pre-air press release. Press releases are just that. They are not necessarily statements of fact. Having multiple references for the same set of information puts a needless burden on the reader when there is a single page that contains all pertinent facts. A press release will not likely be corrected should changes occur whereas a show’s page will be updated as information becomes known. The target information in this scenario is the character/VA, not when that particular information was released to the public. How this article is referenced is an example of this.

Finally, while it isn’t required as per policy, there is never a need to give every single entry in the list a citation. It adds clutter but no value. A single reference would suffice. And as mentioned, multiple citations per character is beyond excess.

WP:BLUESKY addresses these issues clearly, especially in Over-citing and Citing everything. Thanks. ogenstein (talk) 07:43, 16 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

New characters page

[edit]

Hello I'm thinking about creating a new characters page which will contain more information of the characters of this wiki. So what do you all think? Masum Reza 15:34, 19 December 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Masumrezarock100 (talkcontribs)

Per WP:FANCRUFT, no way. Sk8erPrince (talk) 18:18, 19 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

But Sword Art Online and most other animes have their own characters pages in Wikipedia. If you have a problem with this wiki then why don't you delete other pages as well. You jerk I know you have a problem with me but you deleted almost all the informations in characters sections. If you think you should clean up the minor character's information then why didn't you clean up Veldora and Shizu's informations. They appeared for very little time. Masum Reza (talk) 21:55, 19 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take that as a personal attack. Calling me a "jerk" over cleanup to better suit the encyclopedic tone of Wikipedia? That's funny. I don't think you are suited to edit in a highly collaborative environment, and I think I'm wasting my time trying to converse with you. With that kind of attitude, who wouldn't take an issue with you? Sk8erPrince (talk) 23:09, 19 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think there have been enough third party reliable sources writing about this series. It is unlikely that there is enough written to support a separate list of characters at this time. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 01:03, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think you need to explain why there should be a separate characters page. For example:
  • Official website Light novel characters page lists 22 + 10 + 13 characters [1]
  • Official anime website lists and numbers characters up to 31 [2]

Recent edit by Sk8erprince

[edit]

Hello Editors, Recently an user named Sk8erprince almost cleaned up all the characters informations. He told me those were long essays. But the wiki of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime lacks informations. There should be atleast some characters informations. I previously mentioned this issue. An user replied me that there isn't much reliable sources for informations. I think light novels and anime episodes are enough reliable sources. I have no intention to wage a edit war. I think we should discuss this matter here. Masum Reza (talk) 16:59, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Masumrezarock100 you need to back up any further descriptions of the characters with references from either the website or the media itself (light novels, episodes, manga chapters). Otherwise the descriptions for the characters should be fairly short, a sentence or two, which is what I currently see on there. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:24, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed with Angus. The current revision is satisfactory. Like I said before, you could write as much as you want on the Slime Isekai wikia. However, all edits on Wikipedia must adhere to the site's encyclopedic tone. Sk8erPrince (talk) 09:06, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have been watching the anime. Like AngusWOOF said, In my previous edits I added the descriptions of the characters from the anime itself. Masum Reza (talk) 11:23, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Character gender

[edit]

According to the text, the character "Rimuru Tempest" "identifies as genderless". In that case, it would be appropriate to use gender neutral pronouns (i.e. they/them). I am a proponent of using gender neutral language to describe said character. Otherwise, the text is self contradictory: claiming no gender but using male pronouns. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 21:50, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said before, He was a normal human male in his previous life. So he considers himself as a male. So we should write he/his/him instead of they/them. Besides that paragraph not only represents Rimuru Tempest but also Satoru Mikami. So I think it is better to call Rimuru he instead of they.
Sincerely,

Author has stated "ore" which how Rimuru is address does not matter as he/she.
Directly from Author Mr. Fuse:
Thank you for always supporting us.
I didn't really mean to answer, but I will answer once.
  • Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any misunderstandings caused by translation.
As for Rimuru's gender, I leave it up to the recipient, the reader.
I started writing with the intention of being a man, but halfway through the story it's neither gender. Rimuru identify is not male but neutral. Please understand that Rimuru's perception of themselves has changed over time.
Forgot about term "ore" which is use by girls to address themselves. * About him or her.
For me, I feel like "Rimuru is~", so I'm going to write a sentence by calling the name so that both genders can receive it. I don't know the translated sentences, so please contact the source of the translation.
Also, in games, etc., there are times when it is difficult due to the system, so even if you tell us your request, we may not be able to respond. Thank you for your understanding.
that's all.
I'm not going to answer any more questions, so feel free to interpret!
I will do my best to create a work with a high degree of freedom so that more fans can enjoy it. Thank you for your continued support! ! StarSky7 (talk) 18:38, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
