The American Tragedy is a band that toured Nationally mulitple times, playes with numerous major label artists, has released four albums, avaibale nationally. They were played on USA Network, and their single The Rosenburg was played nationally on radio stations, and was the most requested song on 99X for 6 weeks straight. Lots of bands have been opening acts, I don't know if that necessarily asserts notability. I had friends in a band that "toured nationally" but they weren't notable at all. 8,000 Cds isn't much of a sale... The USA Network and the radio thing may confer notability though.
