Heritage (?)

[edit]

Re: The Cliffe states that the dwelling was listed by the Register of the National Estate, Class: Historic on 30/06/1992. This date seeems to render as inaccurate at best, and deliberately misleading at worst, the assertions made in the WA Parliament by Peter Collier, Colin Barnett, et al, that the Creasys had no idea of its heritage valuee at the time of purchase, 1995. Such false assertions were in part used to 'justify' the home's removal from the register, by the so-called Heritage Minister, so it wo ld be good to get the article to reflect this.Odilon (talk) 21:50, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Never believe a politican - it would appear that in the debate in parliment that Colin Barnett used the information provided by the Creaseys and didn't bother to check the specifics - probably knowing that nobody else in parliment would know them and be able to provide sufficient counter-arguements (happens all the time) - the property was not only registered on the National Estate prior to the Creaseys purchasing it but it was also listed by the National Trust (unfortunately neither of those listings give it any statutory protection against demolition). Colin is also incorrect when he states that the dwelling was relisted in May 2005 as it was actually July 2005. I have put in all the correct listing dates with references.
