A more impartial description of the book would better serve Wikipedia's purpose.[edit]

This article should be edited to make it seem more impartial and objective, instead of seeming to reflect the opinion of the editor as to the validity, invalidity, correctness or incorrectness of the author's point of view. - Embram (talk) 15:30, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Treatment of this subject at Allan Bloom[edit]

The treatment of this subject over at Allan Bloom#Closing of the American Mind seems far more complete than we have here. I'm thinking of replacing most of this article with the material from Allan Bloom, or better yet simply changing this article to redirect to Allan Bloom, being sure of course to mention the ISBN and publishing date over there. Comments? --CliffC 02:59, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. This should be a separate Wikipedia article, as is done with practically every other well-known book or movie. Why make an exception for just this book? Doing so would only serve to bury it in a much larger article, thus decreasing the usability of Wikipedia and the users' access to information within it. Allowing the user to at least see the article would improve the usability of Wikipedia. Reference and a link to further discussion within the article about Allan Bloom could easily be incorporated within this article. - Embram (talk) 15:30, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Without objection, the motion has carried. Am redirecting this article to Allan Bloom. --CliffC 03:18, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Zap Zappa[edit]

I think that the sentence referencing Frank Zappa is odd and takes away from the flow of the article, maybe it should be moved to the critical reception section where other criticisms of the book are.
