[edit]User Jahgro recently made this deletion, stating that no citation could be found and that it was probably speculation. I could be wrong, but I think I remember coming across some or all of this material in an interview in a DVD bonus featurette some time ago. Whether the featurette was connected to this episode or to Star Trek: Voyager, I can't remember. Also, I don't have access to the DVD's at this time, so if anyone else would like to investigate and re-insert the material with a citation, please go ahead. — Cbbkr (talk) 20:44, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
I have the DVD set for Star Trek, Then Next Generation. I will investigate this tonight and re-insert the deleted section if it is correct. Thanks for the location where I can look for it. - Jahgro (talk) 21:10, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
So I found the correct spot. Season 5 Disk 7 Special Features called "Memorable Missions" at 4:07 into the featurette Robert McNeill says the following.
"I did the Next Generation, I did an episode of that. And I did a character that was very similar to Paris. And, uh, Rick Berman told me that when they were creating this show and they were talking about casting this part -- I was in New York doing a play when they were casting -- and, uh, uh, Rick said you know, they were talking about casting and they said, "Yeah, we should get a type, like, uh that Robert McNeill who did, you know, in The Next Generation. It's kind of like, you know Robert McNeill did in there. But, uh, you know, sort of like that, but-but not exactly." And so they audition and they audition. And then finally, one day somebody said "You know, we just can't find anybody for this part. Why don't we bring in Robert McNeill? Since we keep using, you know his performance in Next Generation and that character in Next Generation is like, you know, the type, why don't we call Robert McNeill?" So, uh, so they did."
So, It doesn't look like they wanted to bring back Locarno, they just wanted someone like his character. -- Jahgro (talk) 22:08, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
