Magnificent Seven references[edit]

I happened to re-watch the original The Magnificent Seven recently, and then coincidentally re-watched this episode a few days later. Mem Alpha says the writers did not intend any references to the film whatsoever, and whether or not that's actually true, there are a few minor references in the episode that are clearly intentional - they may have been added during filming - not sure how strict DS9 was about following the script (Mem Alpha does note that the actors studied the film). The more significant parallel - the way Quark and Rom assemble their team - could be considered coincidental, I suppose, but the hand gestures (a couple times) between them as they add members are undeniably a reference to the same interactions between Steve McQueen and Yul Brynner. If anyone could find a reference for this, that would be great. I'm going to put a mention in the article for now, as I'm assuming this falls under obvious fact and not original research, but a source would still be nice... --Fru1tbat (talk) 14:18, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
