Struggletown[edit]

I've read a number of times in local history books about Randwick that The Spot in the early-mid 19th cent. was often known by the names 'Struggletown' and 'Irish Town'. I've included in my contribution a reference to one of the books. It's an interesting detail about the place!Luton Hoo (talk) 16:59, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cultural activities[edit]

I've added some information about The Ritz and the local film and food festival, because they would appear to be noteworthy. I'll source some old 1930s images of the place, too, when I get the chance, and will probably take some photographs myself of the area to add to the article.--Luton Hoo (talk) 04:24, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Importance[edit]

I've designated this article as 'Low' in importance. I live here and so have a sentimental attachement to the place, but even I recognise that it's not groundbreaking stuff. That said, I think the historical notes are important details about the area, especially the information about the conservation of The Ritz cinema.--Luton Hoo (talk) 04:28, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Demographic data[edit]

I have put up some of the census data from the most recent (2006) census of the area around The Spot to provide some idea of the demographic of the local area. I've included in the references links to the published data at the Australian Bureau of Statistics website.--Luton Hoo (talk) 14:46, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

I've started a small section on the name of "The Spot" and "St Pauls" which is often seen on maps as the same area. So far, just some basic stuff on the unofficial status of the names, but hopefully soon I will be able to write up how the name "The Spot" came to stick.--Luton Hoo (talk) 14:48, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
