dear wiki administrator, i created both "the texas tribune" and "texas tribune" pages, but the organization is one and the same, as are the pages. can pls help us by moving "the texas tribune" so that it is a redirect to "texas tribune"? thanks, evan smith

I have done it the other way round as other newspaper articles have the "The" included in their title. (e.g. The New York Times). --DanielRigal (talk) 17:57, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interests?

[edit]

what is our/my conflict of interest? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smithea (talkcontribs) 18:06, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are one of the founders are you not? That is what it says in the article. Please read WP:COI for explanations of why it is best not to write about yourself or your activities. --DanielRigal (talk) 18:19, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

so if i step off after today and let someone else edit, is that okay? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smithea (talkcontribs) 18:23, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Should be fine. Maybe try to get some more references on so that notability is well proven and there is no risk of it getting deleted on that ground. --DanielRigal (talk) 18:35, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Declaration

[edit]

I am Evan Smith, the CEO and editor-in-chief of The Texas Tribune, and I created this page, which is apparently a conflict of interest. My edits are noncontroversial in nature. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smithea (talkcontribs) 18:29, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on The Texas Tribune. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

The non-partisan label on Texas Tribune

[edit]

I strongly protest the identification of The Texas Tribune as non-partisan. As a life-long discriminating, non=partisan voter and Texas resident, I attest that The Texas Tribune consistently takes a distinctly one-sided view of national and state politics. For their partisan sympathy, I do not fault Texas Tribune, as that is their right under the US constitution. What I protest is Wikipedia's lack of insight into the news perspective offered by the Tribune without due diligence. I'm an annual contributor to Wikipedia and have considered it as relatively flawless in it's detailed information about countless subjects. Wikipedia's label of Texas Tribune as "non-partisan" rattles my confidence in Wikipedia to my core. 2601:2C4:8100:B50:9C0B:6B74:8F01:CC32 (talk) 14:01, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Encyclo

[edit]

I followed one of the External Links, for Encyclo, and got this response: "Editor’s Note: Encyclo has not been regularly updated since August 2014, so information posted here is likely to be out of date and may be no longer accurate. It’s best used as a snapshot of the media landscape at that point in time." So I removed it.

Moving the page past Start-Class rating

[edit]

I feel like the intro section is a little pitchy. I'd like to, in small steps, make it more factual and add some depth, as time permits. I already removed "newspaper" from the intro. It's a news website, always has been.

I don't feel strongly about the organization either way, but it would nice to flesh this page's info out a bit more for people doing research, etc. Let me know if this is an acceptable plan, or rather something that is not wanted/needed. I won't take offense. I'm just here to help Wikipedia where I can. ArtemisXLVII (talk) 15:40, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification and simplification of intro info

[edit]

There was such a mix of information in the previous version -- like the complaint that the Tribune doesn't have a "feedback" section. That looked like someone had a beef about this. Few news sites offer feedback since it's usually filled with nonsense and trolls. I think more work needs to be done in the intro, but I don't want to tread all over and become unwelcome. I'd rather not address bias/unbiased/left/right/upside down. Facts are important, the arguments I'll leave to others. ArtemisXLVII (talk) 17:34, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
