Outside references[edit]

These have citations, but do the sources back up the implied claims? It's one thing to say Missy alludes to the song "The Bitch is Back" but quite another to say that the scene between the Doctor and Davros "echoes" a similar scene in a graphic novel by Alan Moore. Saying it "echoes" that scene implies the writer is paying some sort of homage to Moore. If the scene or the lines are merely similar and it's a critic noticing the similarity, then it's not actually an outside reference--it's a critic connecting dots which may or may not be there. I've looked up the reference, which looks about blog-level to me, and even it does not outright claim this is an allusion--it merely points out they're similar.
