Proposed merge of Forget Self-Help into Thomas Fellows (author)
[edit]according to the AfD close; essentially all of the material here is already in the main article. DGG ( talk ) 05:41, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
I think the original info about Robert E. Lee should come back into this section. It is very provocative that Fellows includes him in his first book considering it is Christian-themed and Robert E. Lee fought for slavery. There are also several reviews in the original page, which is not in this one... DGGPlayer825 (talk) 21:00, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
- The section on Lee is simply taking advantage of current news for promotional purposes--and what he said does not seem of any importance except to his fans. The repetitive reviews from local newspapeers do not add encyclopedic information. And I regard the contents of the main article also as promotional--it's just that there's less of it for each individual book. DGG ( talk ) 23:30, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
I would disagree that the remaining contents of Fellows' article are promotional, but would add that there must be more neutrality in the last two. Most authors build on their first book, whereas his last two books were somewhat failures, with the media covering his second as a passing glance, and barely giving his third any real media attention ' DGGPlayer825 (talk) 17:18, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
DGGI'll add this later on today.
- OK, then the thing to do is. to make the one article properly comprehensive, so all this is in one place. DGG ( talk ) 00:35, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
Added the neutrality... Player825 (talk) 00:08, 26 September 2020 (UTC) DGG
Do you want me to add "Forget Self-Help" to his page? DGG74.213.20.205 (talk) 20:22, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- I think it is already there. The qy is whether anythign needs to be added about the book. DGG ( talk ) 01:16, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
We could add some reviews, but that would give it too much of a promotional flair. Let's leave it how it is. DGG Player825 (talk) 21:37, 29 September 2020 (UTC). Actually, substantial reviews in third-party published independent reliable sources, not press releases, blurbs, blogs, Amazon, or Goodreads are what show the ntoability of a book. They're essential, not promotional. Promotional reviews are what appear in ads and on books jackets, and on amazon,. DGG ( talk ) 23:45, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 12:44, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
Removing the article contains content that is written like an advertisement and putting Fellows' hometown and current city he resides in back
[edit]Hi,
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. |
can you take off the reads like an advertisement tag now that the promotional tone and unreliable sources have been removed?
Also, considering I can prove that he went to the Westminster schools, can't we assume that he grew up in Atlanta?
Also, these three articles prove he lives in Houston. Can you also put that back?
Thanks

- This is pretty sad. Drmies (talk) 02:29, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Drmies: Hi! I took the liberty of declining the request in order to rid the queue of these junk requests. Hope that's fine. PK650 (talk) 23:42, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

PR Edit
[edit]I am Thomas Fellow's new PR editor since his last one couldn't produce enough media coverage and got fired. The 4 major cities (Austin, Dallas, Houston, & San Antonio) are big enough, however, making an edit from Laredo should be acceptable.
I am new to this, so if I haven't referenced anything correctly, could you please point me in the correct direction and help me out?
Cheers, Jason — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65hookemhorns (talk • contribs) 22:02, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hello 65hookemhorns, I am sorry to tell you that Wikipedia is not a tool that can or should be used to increase media coverage. You may forward that onto Fellows as well in case he's leaning towards hiring another new PR person.
- I don't see any need to include that book review in the article. You may however formally request that edit here with the
{{Request edit}}
-template, and someone else will have a look at that. Before doing that please have a look at your user talk page, read the linked policies/guidelines and take the appropriate steps. Thanks! – NJD-DE (talk) 19:32, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for your explanation NJD-DE Here is my proposed edit. I have disclosed that I am a paid editor on my page. I know Wikipedia is not a tool to increase media coverage. He fired his last PR person because she could not produce enough media coverage.
By the way. Fellows published 5 books last year but I am not trying to put them up on Wikipedia because with the other four books the media coverage was just promotional and there have been no critical reviews. Here is all the media coverage Fellows have received from April for his books.

Part of an edit requested by an editor with a conflict of interest has been implemented. |
- Specific text to be added or removed: In a review by William Green of The Laredo Morning Times, he writes that, "the book recommends itself to those willing to think in larger terms that the world does not revolve around us. Like the Bible, one needs to read the book more than once to appreciate his insights."
- Reason for the change: Laredo is one of Texas' biggest cities and it is not a promotional story, it is an actual review,
- References supporting change: [1]
- Partly done: I did not include the quote comparing the book to the literal Bible, because to be blunt, that's a little overboard. The Laredo Morning Times is a legitimate source, and to that end I added a short quote about the book from the review into the relevant section. See Special:Diff/1079797633 for the specific revision. - Well, there is an SPI, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Billywhite86, for one of them (didn't check if that is all the accounts from the second group), but what's the point--aren't these mostly throwaway accounts? You can "welcome" them with a COI note, but since there's only one recent account there's little that CU can do. I'd go for article improvement so there's a decent status quo.
