Why leave out Bower's most important work?

[edit]

Mr. Bower's first two books were and are classics of the WWII era events.

"Blind Eye to Murder" is deeply researched tale of failure, fraud and deceit of the Allies dealings with the German murderers after WWII. The Allies allowed their prejudices and bigotry to override their own clearly expressed goal of capturing, trying and punishing the Nazis leaders, and the underlings who did the killing. It is a book you all should read. Even today our US Govt. is deceiving its citizens and its also apparent the UK Govt. is NO different.

"Klaus Barbie: the Butcher of Lyon" is a compelling portrait of a diseased human given the power of life or death over a conquered population. Barbie, a Gestapo officer, relentlessly pursued the soldiers of the French Résistance, killing and torturing at will. The appellation "the Butcher" was well and truly earned. The US CIC in postwar Germany, hired and paid this murderer to work for us and protected Barbie from French courts and assisted his escape from justice to South America.

Two fine books that only merit a listing in Bower's publishing history? Poor! Hesweeney (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 05:08, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That was 25 June 2013. It is now, 2014, and still no reply. Why does it seem that, in relation to matters reflecting badly on US policy, Wikipedia will not answer? Should be interesting to see if they will now reply - watch this space.

This talk page is very rarely looked at, and so the first message has probably been forgotten about. You can write the section yourself using appropriate references. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 16:37, 8 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

First wife?

[edit]

He has been married twice. I think that should be on the record. Valetude (talk) 12:35, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, feel free to add it if you can find a source (or add a source here and one of us can add it if you prefer) Bellowhead678 (talk) 20:19, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
