2017 Alt-Right Targeting

[edit]

This section is written in a very strange way. It is written sort of like a defense to a controversy and the controversy itself is only mentioned in passing.. I think this Section should be changed to "Controversy Over Comments on Violence Against White People" Whether or not the comment was taken out of context, the comment that caused the Conservative backlash should be listed and it should be noted the the comment is not a misquote Curry did say “In order to be equal, in order to be liberated, some white people might have to die.”. Also the publication that ran the article attacking this statement is not considered "alt-right". It's wikipedia article shows this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_American_Conservative The sentence claiming that Rod Dreher (also not Alt-right) admitted to attacking Professor Curry has no citation, and it it seems to be untrue. Rod Dreher actually wrote an article defending his writings on Professor Curry and detailing his reasons for it. He says he didn't take them out of context, and in fact he applied context from several of the Professors more controversial speeches https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/tommy-curry-situation/. Finally, the Sentence claiming that Snopes "Vindicated Curry" is incorrect. The Snopes article cited does not even draw a conclusion but tells both sides. I saw no vindication https://www.snopes.com/news/2017/06/02/texas-professor-white-people/

I think the Entire Section should be removed, and replaced with "Controversy Over Comments on Violence Against White People" It should mention the first Blog post from the American Conservative https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/when-is-it-ok-to-kill-whites/ It should mention the defense of the blog posts: https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/killing-white-people-tommy-curry/ It should mention that the Dean of the Professor's College Spoke out against Curry, which is shown by a citation already included in the article. https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2017/05/11/furor-over-texas-am-philosophers-comments-violence-against-white-people Then it can provide all the rest of the Defenses against what was said about the professor. Apparently this is not his only controversy. I wonder if perhaps it would be better to simply include a section Called controversies and list them all. Please let me know if you would consider editing this section as I have detailed. Let me know if you would like me to write a version and submit it here for discussion. thanks Doniboy71 (talk) 05:37, 26 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
