In the Beginning

Yes, I wrote the original article and yes, I am the creator of the strip. I have been interviewed three times at various comic conventions for the "Wiki Entry" and it has never appeared. I tried to write it in the third person and cover the areas I was only interviewed about. I am unsure if the issue was copyright for the webcomics (they are under Creative Commons 2.5) or some other issue.

The comic has been on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Webcomics list for some time and that group is overwhelmed with work. The entry does use the format required by the Wikiproject and I wrote the article in good faith.

I read the deletion policy and I do not feel I am advertising, just listing a prominent editorial webcomic. I also read the spam policy and I do not believe I am in violation of that either. Thank-you for your time. Stormbear 00:48, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

On The First Day

Continuing the Biblical reference, I expanded the descriptions of the special series and included a blurb on the current series, Howl Qaeda.

Notability Issues

Added two print references for TCD I had. There is another from the Winston Salem Journal that I can't find.

I typed in "Town Called Dobson" into Google, with the quotes and pulled up 337,000 hits. In comparison, NC Senator Elizabeth Dole has 483,000 hits.

This whole deletion process is pretty bad. Wikipedia has all sorts of minute details on Pokemon characters and somehow that is notable and this isn't. I am sure Pokemon is notable and important for someone, but not me.

I find it ironic they are wanting to delete articles I worked on and then ask for money on the same page. Chadatonic 14:03, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Contesting speedy deletion

The strip has appeared in print in newspapers in major metropolitan US cities.

It has been written about in newspapers.

The strip's 2007 Memorial Day series was published in the literary journal "Arts In A Liberal Frame." See [review]

The strip appears on the front page of many of the leading political blogs.

The strip has a Google Page Rank of 4.

The strip has a Technorati page rank of 30,693 and an authority of 191.

The strip has an Alexa traffic rank of 289,831.

On advice of ArielGold

I asked admin ArielGold to help us with the whole speedy deletion nonsense and AG was very helpful. [link]

Essentially, I moved some of the "cited" links to external links and kept the Bits Of News link as it show notability. AG also suggested moving the notability mentions farther up. I plunked it right below the intro. It was also suggested we find more BON quality links to beef up notability.

Someone already swapped the speedy deletion tag so the hang on tag was not needed.

OH, on the webcomics articles that have the project banner on the article itself IS MISPLACED. It needs to be on the talk page only. There are a lot of webcomics with these banners on the main article, we need to clean those up. I think the practice started when the project group talk page misspoke about its placement.

And I removed the non-free tag since the strip is published under creative commons.

Oh, oh let me clarify, I'm not an Admin :) Here let me paste my comments here for reference: There was no CSD tag, so I removed the {{hangon}} template, as it isn't needed. I also removed the talk page template that was in article space, as it shouldn't be there. I moved it to the talk page. The article does seem to have notability, but it is buried way at the bottom of the page: "The 2007 Memorial Day series was included in the literary journal, Art In A Liberal Frame.", so I think that could be moved up to demonstrate notability earlier. The article needs some work, the references are half inline, half not inline, and the comic strip's website shouldn't be used as a reference. Additionally, both the Mt Airy URLs used as references are invalid URLs, and this URL is not a reliable source, that's a Wiki, so it is not reliable. It can be moved to the external links section, however. This URL is a blog, so also not a reliable source, and should be moved to the external links section as well. It seems the only reliable, third-party source is the Bits of News article. But I would imagine with some digging, more could be found. That is just my initial take, given only a few minutes. New appearances

The strip made its debut in the San Francisco Chronicle on December 8th, 2007. I added notations about this and updated the Special series section to include the conclusion of the Howl Qaeda series. Chadatonic (talk) 03:22, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Possible conflict of interest

I don't know how major it is in this case, but here the author of the webcomic says that the page was built by an intern of his, so there may be some issues with the neutrality of the article's point of view. Doesn't look like it should need a whole ton of work to ensure it is neutral, but I'm not very much of an article-space contributor so I'll let someone else look at it. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 23:35, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
