Explanation for move

[edit]

I needed an article about the different types of racing surfaces so that I could link to it from the main horse racing article. This seemed to be the most suitable title for such an article. However, it was already in use as an article about what in the UK we would call the going. I felt that material was more suitable in an article entitled Going (horse racing) (previously a redirect), so I have moved it there and placed redirects from Track condition and Track rating which I believe are the respective names in the US and Aus. Yes, but I think "track condition" is the more intuitive & more common of the three, so can we use that title instead? For me it's not so much the US/UK thing as that we also have "way of going" regarding the quality of horse gaits, the potential is there for confusion. Montanabw(talk) 06:09, 7 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The material from the synthetic surfaces article could all be usefully used here. If at some point in the future there is enough material about synthetic surfaces we could branch off into individual articles about separate surfaces but for the time being I think we should consolidate in this article.Peaky76 (talk) 17:34, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
