What does this mean?

[edit]

"The Treaty of Wismar was eventually ratified in 1638 by the Treaty of Hamburg." A treaty cannot be ratified by another treaty. What does this sentence actually mean? Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 13:40, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It means that the tenets of the Treaty of Wismar were fully enforced via the Treaty of Hamburg. Just because a treaty is signed does not always mean that it is automatically ratified and therefore enforced. Of course, this article needs to be expanded so any helpful contributions are more than welcome. Deucalionite (talk) 15:52, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
